About Sled Island

What is Sled Island, anyway?
Sled Island is an annual five-day music and arts festival in Calgary, Canada. Since 2007, Sled Island has presented music, comedy, film and art in multiple venues across the city each June.

What does Sled Island’s name mean?
Sled Island is an actual place in northern Alberta, but really, it means whatever you want it to mean. A two-word poem? Sure. A magical place where dreams come true? Yup. A one-of-a-kind music and arts festival? Definitely.

What does Sled Island’s guest curator do?
Each year, Sled Island’s guest curator puts their stamp on the festival through special programming choices and with their presence at the event. Curator picks join over 200 additional bands, comedy, film and art chosen by the festival.

Passes & Tickets

I’m having a technical difficulty while trying to purchase a pass or ticket. What can I do?

What kinds of passes does Sled Island offer?

Does Sled Island offer day passes?
Yes! Please see our Passes page for pass options.

Does Sled Island offer single tickets?
Yes. We offer a limited number of advance tickets to select Sled Island shows. Visit our Tickets page for details.

Do single tickets guarantee show access?
Yes.

Does Sled Island offer door tickets?
Door tickets will be available for all shows not sold out at the time of the festival, subject to capacity. Show up early to get in!

A show I want to go to is sold out. Can I still get in with a pass?
As a general rule, we reserve 2/3 of venue capacities for passholders. Access is always subject to capacity, so we encourage you to arrive early for any shows you just can’t miss.

How do I pick up my pass?
To access festival events, all Sled Island passholders must first pick up a wristband. For more details, visit our Pass Pick-Up page.

I bought a pass and can't attend anymore. Can I transfer my pass to a friend?
Yes. To transfer a pass, please follow the instructions here.

Are passes and tickets refundable? 
No. All passes and tickets are non-refundable.

I lost/removed/damaged my wristband. Can I get a refund or replacement?
No. Wristbands are not shareable and should be treated like cash. At the discretion of Sled Island staff, replacements may be offered if an accidentally damaged pass is returned to Pass Pick-Up.

I’m over 18 but I only want to go to all-ages shows. Can I buy an All-Ages Pass?
Sorry, but our All-Ages Pass is for attendees under 18 years of age only. If you’re over 18, we have plenty of other great pass and ticket options to choose from! Visit our How to Sled page for details.

When does the Sled Island schedule get released?
The Sled Island schedule is released in late spring each year.

Get Involved

I’m a musician/comedy act. Can I apply for Sled Island?
Yes. Applications open in October and close in February of each year. Visit our Apply page for details.

Can I volunteer at Sled Island?
Yes! Sled Island happens each year thanks to our hundreds of volunteers. Applications open in spring of each year on our Volunteer page.

Is Sled Island hiring?
For current openings, visit our Jobs & Internships page. If you are enrolled in a school program that allows an internship for course credit, please contact us at info@sledisland.com.

Accessibility

Is Sled Island open to minors?

Yes. Sled Island strives for all-ages inclusion and accessibility by offering a low-cost All-Ages Pass exclusively for attendees under 18. The All-Pages Pass offers access to all events open to minors, including music, comedy, film and art for only $40. You can find more info on our passes page.

Are Sled Island venues wheelchair accessible?
There are several Sled Island venues that are wheelchair accessible. Please visit our Venues page for accessibility details.

Does Sled Island have free shows? 

Sled Island offers an assortment of free events each year at venues including the Ship & Anchor and the ground floor stage of the Palomino. For details, you can find more on Sled Island tickets page during the festival season. 

Those interested in purchasing a Sled Island pass can take advantage of Sled Island’s payment plan, which allows for the purchase of a Sled Island Discovery Pass or Discovery Plus Pass in a select number of installments. You can find this option during the checkout process.
