Sled Island 2022 Special Events Announced

Today we're very excited to announce a select number of Sled Island 2022 special events, including comedy, film, art and a brand new block party in Ramsay! 

Sled Island Comedy is back, live and in person for 2022, and we could not be more thrilled! Taking place June 23 - 25 at The Tea House (1213 1 St SW), this year's programming features Sled alum Jackie Pirico (Just For Laughs: All Access, CTV's The Stand Up Show, CBC's True Dating Stories), 2022 Juno nominee for Best Comedy Album of the Year, Hisham Kelati, Letterkenny writer Allie Pearse, Vancouver's Maddy Kelly (The Standup Show with Jon Dore, CBC’s The Debaters), Lethbridge legend Faris Hytiaa, hilarious local comedian Austin Lonneberg, and Calgary's Best Comedian winner Malik Elassal.

Sled Island passes grant access to these and all other Sled Island shows (subject to capacity), and are currently available at SledIsland.com and Lukes Drug Mart (112 4th St. NE). Single tickets go on sale this Friday, May 20 at 12pm MDT.

Sled Island's Ramsay Block Party is a fresh new take on our free, family-friendly, all-day extravaganza! This year's event will take place in Ramsay at the Lilydale Parking Lot (2126 Hurst Rd SE) running from 12 - 9pm on Saturday, June 25! The all-day party will feature live music from Chad VanGaalenJulie Doiron, Living Hour and many more, PLUS free skateboarding from the Compound Mobile Skatepark, food trucks courtesy of The Curryer and Arepas Ranch, an art market featuring nvrlnd. artists, beer and other tasty beverages from our sponsors at Eighty-Eight and Dandy Brewing (including some specialty Sled Island collaboration beers yet to be announced), and much more!

Lots of this year's art programming can also be found at the location of our Ramsay Block Party, including NTH, an art showcase from Chad VanGaalen taking place just down the block at nvrlnd. boutique (1048 21 Ave SE) and a mural unveiling at the Lilydale Parking Lot. Sled Island Film is one for the books this year, with Lydia Lunch: The War Is Never Over (followed by Q&A with the one and only Lydia Lunch) at the Globe Cinema (617 8 Avenue SW), Summer of Soul, the Oscar-winning debut documentary from Questlove, at the Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd NW
), and Femme Queen Chronicles, the pilot episode of Ahya Simone's comedic webseries, including a live artist talk and Q&A with Ahya herself, at The GRAND (608 1 St SW).

Sled Island 2022 Full Music Lineup Announced

The Sled Island 2022 full music lineup is here! The 150+ artists revealed today are added to a list of more than 30 previously announced artists, confirming over 200 acts to perform at this year's festival!

Newly announced additions to this year’s lineup include resounding indie rock legends Built to Spill, acclaimed ambient singer-songwriter Grouper, SoCal pop punk heroes Joyce Manor, minimalist indie luminaries Low, beloved Calgary musician and visual artist Chad VanGaalen, “surf noir” four-piece La Luz, psych-heavy garage rock trio L.A. Witch, industrial horrorcore rap artist and 2020 Polaris Prize-winner Backxwash, accomplished Canadian singer-songwriter Julie Doiron, prolific rapper and producer R.A.P. Ferreira, Olympia’s heavy-as-hell death metal four-piece Mortiferum, trailblazing doom-meets-noise project Body Void, Calgary-based doom metal duo Mares of Thrace, and recently-established heavy metal outfit Worse, featuring former members of Pride Tiger and 3 Inches of Blood. These acts join already announced artists such as guest curator Sudan Archives, Princess Nokia, Alex Cameron, SASAMI, Lydia Lunch RETROVIRUS, PEARS, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Pantayo, and many, many more.
